![]() ![]() OK, the Red Elk isn't the greatest, but the oryx extends view distance and reveals water rests and is a good tank. That being said, If you ever want to have a real easy time playing this game, a hunting dog (if you want hilarious overkill take 2) and cook just breaks the sanity meter system over it's knee. But my 2nd point still stands, and it'd be so boring :P Maybe if they were all dogs and small dinos maybe, since they have 2 natural die. No cane, no machete, no lantern, no rope, etc. Also, animal items feel weaker than human items for the most part. Most animals have only one die (and a partial one while mounted which means one only) which is REALLY going to hamper you're combat effectiveness. I've also seen you can get a horse, dog, sea turtle, raptor, ankylosaurus, some other dinosaur too. In my current game I have 2 stygimoloch dinosaurs, an oryx, and the Red Elk. There are a lot to choose from and they have some great abilities. Originally posted by MobySlick:I strongly recommend getting a trek full of 4 animals. I strongly recommend getting a trek full of 4 animals. Do you love having to worry every time you rest that one of your trek members has become a pyromaniac and two others hate each other and you can't rest at missions because of the racist priest hates your mole-person. Keeping up loyalty on hard mode is a real challenge because of this stuff. ![]() wanna loot the treasure? Your superstitious sailor won't like it. Wanna walk over that plateau? Your acrophobic nurse will lose loyalty. They will hinder your travels with such ridiculous penalties. They'll get infected, develop psychoses and start to hate you. ![]() The one disadvantage I can think of is the more people in your party, the more can go wrong, and it will. ![]()
